After this past year of having to stay inside for so long, there’s a new appreciation for spending time outside and getting some fresh air! There’s nothing better than an old-fashioned picnic with some friends or family. Schuylkill River Park
With two fenced-in dog parks, a playground, and a community garden, Schuylkill River Park has a little bit of something for everyone! There is lots of green space, as well as a boardwalk by the water. And if you decide you want to get back to the city life, Center City is right next door!
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park
This massive South Philly park has lakes, tennis courts, sports fields, and even a famous skatepark -The possbilities are endless! There is 21 picnic groves and pavilions, which means you can never get bored! Don’t forget to pack some burgers and hot dogs because they also have grills to add a little extra touch to your picnic!
Bartram’s Garden
Spreading across 50 acres on the west bank of the Schuylkill River, this Southwest Philly picnic spot is considered the oldest surviving botanical garden in the country! Grab your picnic basket and blanket because this is one of Philly’s hottest spots to spend some time outside enjoying the community.
Penn Treaty Park
Located in Fishtown, this park offers seven green acres of picnic-perfect, riverside space just off of Delaware Avenue. It might be one of the parks on the smaller side, but it’s views are unmatched. You can also enjoy taking pictures with a beautiful view of Center City behind you!
