Check out this holiday season in Philly, all the way from the Northeast to South Philly.
1. 2700 block of South Smedley Street
Each year, residents who live on this block in South Philly between 16th and 17th Streets and Moyamensing and Oregon Avenues put on the “Smedley Street Christmas Light Spectacular.” The display is complete with trees covered in sparkling lights and more blow-up Santa’s than you’ll ever need to see.
2. 2700 block of South Colorado Street
If you’re already on the South Philly Christmas lights unofficial walking tour, swing by this block that’s close to Smedley Street. Residents at Colorado Terrace have been putting up elaborate lights displays during holiday seasons for the last decade.
3. South 13th Street
Every year for about a dozen years, neighbors on South 13th Street near Morris Street in South Philly create the “Miracle on South 13th Street,” a longstanding neighborhood tradition on the blocks just a short ways away from East Passyunk Avenue.
4. 3500 block of Oakmont Street
Residents in Mayfair have a Christmas-decorating contest each year and they line their homes with lights and sprinkle blow-up decorations in their front yards.
5. And of course, the 4200 block of Greeby Street
For the last 17 years, residents on Greeby Street in Tacony have gone all-out with their Christmas lights, to the point where last year, their road needed to be converted from two-way to one-way to make room for those passing by to gawk at the lights display.
